Phil Nichol is an internationally renowned comedian, actor, writer, director, and musician. As a stand-up, Phil has performed in 52 countries, toured award-winning solo shows worldwide, and filmed five comedy specials, including the Edinburgh Comedy Award–winning The Naked Racist and Nearly Gay for ITV2. His most recent international tour show Your Wrong played over 130 shows in 13 countries. Early in his career, Phil spent ten years with seminal Canadian comedy act Corky and the Juice Pigs, including two seasons on MADtv. Phil’s television appearances include Never Mind the Buzzcocks, The Graham Norton Show, Live at the Comedy Store, The Standup Show, The World Stands Up, Spicks and Specks, The Alternative Comedy Experience, Edinburgh and Beyond, and The Project, as well as the Just for Laughs, and the Melbourne and New Zealand Comedy Festival TV galas. As an actor, Phil played Terry Gilliam in BBC4’s BAFTA-nominated Holy Flying Circus. Phil has appeared in hit sitcom Catastrophe (C4), award-winning sitcom Uncle (BBC 3), Man Down (C4), Siblings (BBC 1), Badults (BBC 2), Annually Retentive (BBC 4), Agatha Raisin (Sky Max). He is also the voice of Fat Ed on MTV’s Fur-TV. On stage, Phil has appeared in London’s West End in Olivier Award nominated, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, performed with the Donmar Warehouse in New York in The Machine, and starred in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest with Christian Slater. Phil starred alongside Boy George in the original cast of Taboo, and alongside Bill Bailey in Twelve Angry Men. Most recently, Phil devised and starred as lead character Dick Marlin in Spiegelworld’s cirque-cabaret The Hook in Atlantic City. Phil is a multiple award winner, including the Edinburgh Comedy Award, a Fringe First, and the Stage Award for Acting Excellence (see full list below). Phil is the founder and Artistic director of the award-winning Comedians Theatre Company, which is now in its 19th year having produced over 30 productions including a radio series for BBC Radio 4. Phil has developed numerous feature films and has directed for both television and theatre. Phil has released 15 comedy albums, all now available in Phil Nichol’s Comedy Body, an extraordinary exploration of Phil’s career as a comedian and musician. Phil wrote and produced 3 comedy/music albums with Corky and the Juice Pigs and his solo album Ethel’s Little Ditties was released in 2016. Phil’s rock parody album by his band Muscle is due for release later this year. Born in Glasgow, and raised in Toronto, Phil now lives in London.
